59TH FAENZA PRIZE. HERE ARE THE FINALISTS

130 sculpture by artists coming from all over the world will be exhibited at MIC Faenza from 27th June 2015 to 24th January 2016

A record Faenza Prize.  This year the 59th International Competition of Contemporary Ceramic Art has collected more than 600 subscriptions. The Competition started in 1838, has successfully became international since the Seventies and it has always been a medium to survey the contemporary ceramic sculpture outcomes.

The Jury composed of Claudia Casali, Director of MIC Faenza,  Monika Gass, Director of Keramikmuseum, Westerwald, Höhr-Grenzhausen, Germany; Grant Gibson, Director of the Crafts Council Magazine, Great Britain and Daniela Lotta, Art and Design historian, teacher ISIA in Faenza, examined a great amount of works, about 3 pieces for artist for a total of 1.800 works. They selected 56 works for the “Under 40” category and 72 works for the “Over 40” category.

The Director Claudia Casali explains: “the  subscriptions increased both in the number and quality of the international participations, we are very satisfied. The first goal concerning the participation has been reached. The entire exhibition will offer the vision of different themes with a particular focus on sculpture”. The exhibition will open at the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza on 26th June 205 at 6.30 pm and will be on the stage until 24th January 2016. it will represent a unique opportunity to have a contemporary overview on the ceramic art research at an international level.
