The 61st Faenza Prize will unfortunately not be awarded

Monday 16 November 2020

Due to the ongoing emergency situation, the 61st Faenza Prize will unfortunately not be awarded and It will not be possible to postpone the exhibition to 2021 as previously announced.

In 2021, starting from January 7th, the MIC will plan every day, online events on MIC social networks (facebook, instagram, twitter and youtube), as well as a series of weekly “live talks” dedicated to the promotion and enhancement of the selected works and artists. This activities will complete the publication of the printed catalogue.

These are the motivations of the jury:

"Unfortunately, the persistence of the emergency generated by Covid-19 does not allow us to award the 61st Faenza Prize, since the conditions for the Jury to evaluate the works do not exist, nor can we think to realize the exhibition of the 61st edition of the Prize in 2021.

The spirit of the Faenza Prize, in its long tradition, has always been to evaluate and enhance works that privilege "the character of innovation" and that "transmit a marked contemporary connotation". Characteristics that have also been highlighted in the last announcement of the competition, which acknowledges that "The Faenza Prize ... has been characterized over the years for a path of avant-garde, of choices of great modernity and contemporaneity, and such must be the mission to pursue.

The continuing uncertainty of the current pandemic forces us to pursue other solutions to enhance the artists whose works had been selected by the Jury for the 61st Faenza Prize.

We are going to realize online events with dedicated weekly episodes, in addition to the special edition of the paper catalog".
