With the publication of the call for entries, the biennial GXC – Young People for Ceramics award is back, which will be held as part of the more articulated Art In Act 009 event at Villa Paris in Roseto degli Abruzzi on August 4.
The prize aims to promote the Art of Contemporary Ceramics, both in its expressions related to historical tradition and in its more innovative and experimental forms. The Competition is organized by the Cingoli Foundation of Roseto degli Abruzzi, with the support of the Tercas Foundation, the CCIAA of the Gran sasso of Italy and the ITACA Association, and is sponsored by: the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – the Abruzzo Region – the Province of Teramo – the Municipality of Roseto degli Abruzzi – the Municipality of Castelli and MIC International Museum of Ceramics of Faenza.
The competition will award three prizes, stage a major Group Exhibition at Villa Paris in Roseto degli Abruzzi, and publish the selected works in a catalog. The Competition is free-themed and is open to free participation by artists under 40.
Of particular note is the composition of the jury, which will be chaired by the internationally renowned gallery owner, curator and art critic, Jean Blanchaert and will include Lucia Arbace, former BSAE superintendent of Abruzzo-Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, Claudia Casali, director of the Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche in Faenza, Carla Marotta, former school director of the Liceo Artistico ” F. A. Grue ” of Castelli, Maria Lucrezia Di Bonaventura, of the Cingoli Foundation, Tiziana Di Sante, of the Tercas Foundation, Antonella Ballone, of the CCIAA of Gran Sasso of Italy.
The jury will select 15 finalist works, all of which will be displayed in the exhibition at Villa Paris, and from these will choose the three winning works. The cash prizes, worth 1,000 €, will be awarded respectively, to the work with the most innovative concept, named after the memory of “Giancarlo Sciannella,” Prize “Serafino Mattucci” to the work considered most adherent to the identity of Castelli ceramics, while for the work that will be characterized by the use of new techniques and the use of any new technologies will be awarded the recognition of the CCIAA of Gran Sasso of Italy.
