“Journey through Ceramics” is the event that celebrates the ancient Vietri ceramic tradition and opens its doors to international artists. The 2025 edition, strongly desired by the Mayor of the City of Vietri sul Mare Giovanni De Simone and Ceramics Councillor Daniele Benincasa, will take place from December 4 to 6, 2025 and will be curated by Rita Raimondi and will have as its main theme “The Colors of Darkness,” understood not as the absence of light, but as a reflective and generative space, in which matter takes on a voice and is transformed into gesture, awareness and vision.
The call for entries calls for works made with any ceramic technique. They must include an explanation linking them to the theme of the competition. Each artist may submit a maximum of two works, of which only one will be selected by the technical committee. The installations must not exceed the dimensions of 80x80x50 cm. and artists must declare that the works are their exclusive property, have not participated in other competitions and have not been published in social media, magazines or newspapers.
Four categories are planned: International Artists Category; National Artists Category, with 8 artists active on the Italian territory; Territorial Artists Category, with 12 artists with production headquarters located in the City of Vietri sul Mare; Young Artists Category, with 10 artists aged between 18 and 32, selected to promote emerging talents. There will also be four prizes: Lifetime Achievement Prize, awarded to the artist who has made an outstanding contribution to the world of ceramic art, as decided by the curator; International Single Prize, with a prize worth €4,000.00 awarded to the work selected by the examining committee; Special Mention, given to a work chosen from those of 12 artists from the territory, to recognize the commitment and creativity of local artists in enhancing the ceramic traditions of the place; and Young Single Prize, with the winner receiving free exhibition space and organizational support to hold a solo exhibition, scheduled for 2026.
