A total of 1.2 million euros has been allocated, which for the North-Central Macro area will go to the Faenza MIC, the Complesso Monumentale ex Carcere Borbonico (Avellino) and the MEV – Museo dell’Emigrazione Veneta (Belluno). For the center-south area, funding will go to the Museo della Porziuncola (Assisi), the Museo civico di Carini (Palermo) and the integrated morphology center for the Mediterranean area (Potenza).

The 80-thousand euro grant is part of a series of actions aimed at improving the usability, accessibility and inclusiveness of our heritage that the Museum has been implementing for several years.

Protagonist of the Faenza Museum will be the rearrangement of the section dedicated to East Asian ceramics, which is scheduled to open on December 13.

The hall will display some 300 artifacts from the 7th century to the present that belong to this culture that has longest influenced the development of the world’s ceramics and fascinated Europe by entering with its aesthetic canons.

The new layout will place great emphasis on the accessibility and usability of the heritage by a diverse audience that includes people with physical and cognitive disabilities in keeping with the “right to culture” with the aim of fostering dialogue between world cultures.

In addition to construction work to overcome physical height differences, the creation of accessible educational apparatus, Braille introductions, tactile pathways and audio guides for people with visual impairments, the proposal of a video pathway in LIS for deaf people and use of panels with info-graphics made using the CAA (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) method great attention will be given to multimedia technologies that enable people to overcome cognitive and physical barriers.

Along the way, augmented reality experiences and the construction of virtual environments are planned to provide the visitor with an emotional learning experience: this is through sensory suggestions that reproduce the different contexts of Asian culture.
