Leoncillo Leonardi, The typist
1949
Deepening
Leoncillo was the true great protagonist and innovator of Italian ceramic sculpture after World War II. Active in the new Italian Artistic Secession and with the Fronte Nuovo delle Arti, after the first dramatic and “baroque” beginnings at the end of the Thirties, linked to the Roman School, he moved on to neo-Cubist plastic art. The work depicting a typist demonstrates his interest in social themes and immediately precedes the informal manifestations of his art in the years to come.
