Although of very limited duration, the so-called “Weimar Republic Ceramics” production was an excellence for German industry as it saw the work of designers, trained at the Bauhaus School, in search of new forms, new decorations and new functions suitable for all social classes. Cartens in Gräfenroda was one of the best known companies interested in this particular research aimed at creating a popular dissemination of modern styles in everyday ceramics.
