In Hungary the artistic renewal was carried out by Vilmos Zsolnay, owner of the homonymous factory in Pécs. The artist was the promoter of the change of the decorative and formal repertoire of the company in line with the changing taste of the time in a modernist key, bringing its production to results of the highest quality and artistic level. Creations of great success were the refined majolica glazed with eosin, a chemical compound used as a dye to make the glazes iridescent, as in the case presented here, the result of research undertaken by Zsolnay with the chemist Vince Wartha
