MIC – Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche in Faenza – along with 38 other Italian museums – has been selected for its quality proposal by the national call for proposals “PAC – Plan for Contemporary Art” aimed at supporting projects for the acquisition, production and enhancement of works of contemporary art and creativity destined for the Italian public heritage, in implementation of Law 29/2001 that established – twenty years ago – the Contemporary Art Plan, worth more than three million euros.

PAC aims to increase the public heritage of contemporary art through the acquisition of works by Italian and foreign artists, and a public selection has been held since 2020 to implement it. The aim is to encourage quality and continuity in the increase of public contemporary art collections through three areas of intervention: acquisitions may also involve collections and archives related to contemporary art, the production of new works, and the enhancement of already acquired collections.

The Faenza MIC has been awarded a substantial grant under the acquisitions portion of the program, which includes the purchase of as many new 9 works (of which three are already on loan at MIC: Echaurren, Ducrot, Cerone) namely: Bertozzi&Casoni, The Basket Of Discord, Pablo Echaurren, My Ombelisk; Joseph Ducrot, Cuccagna Ittica; Sissi (Daniela Olivieri), Vasomadre; Nathalie Doyen, Temps Feutré; Ornaghi Prestinari, Shell; Diego Cibelli, Generosity Generation; two sculptures by Giacinto Cerone, Big Red Stems 1 e 2.

Here are the five works that have never been exhibited at MIC.
